National and international security today in the Baltic Sea Region, is not just a question of an absence of military threats, but it is also to a growing extent a question of transnational presences of stable democratic, political, economic, social and infrastructural conditions.

The Baltic Sea Parliamentary Working Group on Green Growth and Energy Efficiency will hold its second meeting at Eduskunta, the Finnish parliament, in Helsinki on 2 March 2012.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of a seminal event: In 1991, the three Baltic States finally managed to discard decades of occupation and regain their independence. Since then, there have been quite remarkable developments in the region.
